My Story — Sunflower Memorials
It started with a dog named Star.
In 2022, my sister's German Shepherd passed away. Her daughter, my niece, had grown up alongside Star, and losing her hit hard. Her grades dropped, her spark faded. My sister asked if I could create something to keep Star's memory alive.
I came from an art background, pottery, clay, cold and structured objects. But fur has warmth. Clay couldn't capture that. So I investigated, experimented, and eventually found my way to wool and felt. The little keychain I made didn't just look like Star, it felt like her.
My niece carried it everywhere. Today she is in college, and Star still hangs on her school bag.
That keychain changed everything for me. For the first time, I had made something with a heartbeat.
My sister saw something in it before I did. She encouraged me to turn it into something more. Since then, I have created over 100 pieces, with more on the way. Every single one takes half a month or more to complete, because rushing something this personal was never an option.
Recently, a friend of mine in America took my very first international order. She believes in what I am building here, and is helping me bring Sunflower Memorials to the US. This is only the beginning of that journey.
Every piece I make carries a story. That is the only way I know how to create.
